Daniel Shay was a massachusetts farmer who was unhappy with the high taxes that were being placed on farmers to help repay debts from the Revolutionary War. So he organized a "army" of farmers who marched on the Springfield Armory. However, the farmers were fired upon by the Massachusetts militia and they fleed to the Horse Caves in the Holyoke Range.
